Hundreds of community members attended the 4th Annual Lakeland Funeral Home Community Appreciation Barbeque held on August 30.

Having supported Haying in the 30’s, Habitat for Humanity, and Walking through Grief in past years, Lakeland Funeral Home selected Communities in Bloom as this year’s charity organization.

The ‘Icycle Bicycle’ was on site and offered to donate $0.25 from each treat sold towards Communities in Bloom.

Community members had the option of entering door prizes, that raised just over $1,100 for Communities in Bloom.

“We were grateful to be this year’s lucky recipient of the Lakeland Funeral Home Community Appreciation Barbeque,” said Communities in Bloom Chair, Donna Moon.

Guests enjoyed visiting in the summer atmosphere over a beef on a bun meal. They also enjoyed live musical entertainment by Amanda Shaw, ‘Key of Wheat’, and ‘Rose Country’.

“This event is intended as a thank you for all of the volunteering and support we receive throughout the year. It also provides a nice opportunity for staff to interact with the community outdoors. We are also thankful to the sponsors who put forward prizes to encourage donations,” said Managing Funeral Director, Candice Anderson.
