The Wainwright Dance Academy will be hosting their 4th Annual Nutcracker Ballet at the Alumni Theatre in Vermilion on December 9, with performances at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
To experience the Nutcracker coming to life, you can purchase $15 tickets at Lakeland Country Florists at the Lakeland Mall in Vermilion. Tickets will also be available at the door.
The traditional Christmas story will be shown through a dance production accompanied by Tchaikovsky composed music. Performers from Shape Studio in Vermilion will assist in the production for the second time, and the audience will be captivated by the seasonal exchanges and depiction of the enchanted kingdom.
According to Artistic Director-Sandy Sundborg, who has been producing this story for over 30 years, the group uses a lot of props and tries to change it up every year with new costumes and arrangements.
“Some people have made a Christmas tradition of it and have been attending for four years in a row. You don’t need to know someone in it to be able to enjoy it,” said Sundborg.
With festive fun, the dancers contribute a great deal of preparation, and throughout their performances help spread Christmas cheer throughout the community.
“The dancers look forward to this every year. They play a part and get right into it,” said Sundborg.
