F’Laura n’ Company Greenhouses located at 5201-50 Avenue in Vermilion and the farm at 3/4 mile south of highway 16 on Range Road 42 opened for business on May 1st, with the grand opening five-year anniversary event occurring the first weekend in June at the Vermilion location. The vibrant hues of pink and orange are what first grab your eye as you walk into the newly built F’Laura n’ Company Greenhouse. “This is the first year for our brand new greenhouse. Before the snow fell we completed the structural aspect of the greenhouse. Then my husband and the boys spent the winter completing the inside. We had to discuss what was needed to improve the facility over the old, while still maintaining the same great service and products,” said Laura Waterfield, owner of F’Laura n’ Company Greenhouses. Greeted by friendly staff ready to answer any questions, you can find an array of annuals, perennials, succulents, herbs, trees and shrubs, various filler plants, as well as custom designed hanging baskets and planters. “Everything is grown at the farm, and then moved to the new location. Our hanging baskets and planters are all unique and designed by me. I never do more than 10 of the same basket, and one or two of the same planter. I also do custom work for people. Customers can come in with an idea, and I’ll do my best to guide them and make their vision a reality, “explained Waterfield. Although the Vermilion location doesn’t currently have any vegetables, they will be coming before May long weekend. “We will be bringing in hanging cucumber baskets, four-inch cucumber pots, watermelon, cantaloupe, zucchini, pumpkin, tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.,” said Waterfield. Waterfield advises that it’s too cold at the moment to plant your garden. However, you can plant your potted plants as long as their moved inside at night.
