The Vermilion 4-H Light Horse Club celebrated 50 years during their Achievement Day on May 21. The club began in Vermilion during the 1967-1968 season, and this year added a driving project and two young horse projects. Eighteen members spent the morning competing in show classes, and the afternoon competing in speed and gymkhana classes. This year awards were presented to Emily Elder for the Most Dedicated Member, and to Riley Baldwin (absent) for the Most Improved Rider. “We had a very successful busy 4-H Achievement Day. Thank you to Judge Kim Eremko, Ring Master Breanne Hryhirchuk, and Announcer Alyssa. The children did an amazing job this year and have made being a leader so rewarding!” said Leader Krystal Enstrom. The Achievement Day finished up the club’s activity in Vermilion, but members will compete in the Expo at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds from June 2-3. Mandy McDonald will also be doing a driving demonstration at the Expo, and club assistants feel that based on what they saw during Achievement Day, that the members are prepared to give the attending Saskatchewan clubs competition. “We would like to thank those involved with 4-H and the community for supporting our club,” said assistant leader, Rick Allen. The club would also like to thank leader Krystal Enstrom; and assistant leaders Denise McDonald, Jill Smith, Stan Enstrom, and Rick Allen. The club is always welcome to having more members, and anyone interested is encouraged to contact ‘Vermilion 4-H Light Horse Club’ on Facebook for more information.
