The Vermilion Strikers hosted the Lakeland Cup Soccer Tournament from June 15 – 17. Teams from Lac La Biche, St. Paul, Vegreville, Bonnyville, and Cold Lake attended. Referees came from Castor and several other communities. “We truly appreciate the support from all of the players and their parents,” said referee coordinator, Chad Wilson. On June 15, lightning paused the action and after taking a break off of the field, teams were ecstatic to get back to their games. “We love soccer because it is fun being outside and with the team,” said Mia Westergaard. “There is an opportunity to grow as a team,” added Madison Tovell.
