Community members enjoyed the hot weather as The Men’s Den held a barbeque in celebration of their Grand Opening in Vermilion on June 21. Located at 4902 C - 50 Avenue, the men’s wear store has been in operation since December 8, 2017. Deputy Mayor, Tannis Henderson, presented a certificate of congratulations in recognition of the Grand Opening as well as a New Local Business plaque in recognition of their participation in the New Commercial Retail Development Incentive Program. “We’re very excited to have a men’s wear store in town and thank you to these gentlemen for stepping up. Their selection is awesome,” said Henderson. Proceeds from the barbeque will be going to support Hot Lunch programs at Vermilion Elementary School and St. Jerome’s School. Customers enjoyed cake and were able to enter for four draws for $25 gift cards. Owners, Kirby Whitlock and Iain Menzies said that the event started off with a bang, and that they are very thankful for the community’s support ever since they opened. “We are glad that the community is really supporting us, and we would like to thank all of our volunteers today,” said Owner, Iain Menzies. Shannon Leonard, Chamber Office Manager and VES Hot Lunch President said, “From a Chamber perspective, it’s amazing to see new businesses opening in town. They have started off strong and I think they will be very successful. It is fabulous to see people open stores that we don’t have in town so that we can continue to shop locally. As a Hot Lunch recipient, it is amazing when people step forward. The Men’s Den may be new, but they’re already giving back to programs that exist.”
