Rodeo Goers were drawn from all over to watch and partake in the action of The 65th Annual Wainwright Stampede held from June 21 to June 24. There were numerous breakfasts, lunches and BBQ’s held throughout Wainwright during the Stampede with many donating the funds to various clubs, societies, and charities. Wednesday, June 20 was the start of the Wainwright Stampede with Rodeo Slack Performances at the grounds during the day, and at 5 p.m. the Downtown Stampede Kick Off was held with Children’s games, activities including face painting and entertainment, BBQ, and beef on a bun. The ‘Wainwright Stampede Riders’ a precision drill team opened each of the CPRA Rodeo Performances with their Grand Entry showcasing the flags of the Wainwright Stampede’s major sponsors. The CPCA Chuckwagon Races were held four times throughout the Stampede and Thursday night was graced with perfect weather for the event. The CPRA Rodeo Performances featured the Wild Pony Races which kept the crowd excited throughout their three-day schedule.
Friday and Saturday night not only provided rodeo goers all the action from the CPCA and CPRA it also gave attendees the opportunity to kick up their heels during the Friday night Rodeo Dance held at the Elks Hall featuring the live band Roadkill. The Stampede Cabaret on Saturday featured Jerry Sereda at the Peace Memorial Multiplex. Sunday, June 24 was a day of hooting and hollering as the “Run For The Championship Buckle” was held in the afternoon and the “Battle For The Buckles” was in the evening for the big finale.
