Kurt Bensmiller Claims 4th Calgary Stampede Championship

Vermilion Voice

After ten straight days of chuckwagon racing, Kurt Bensmiller earned his fourth Calgary Stampede Championship on July 15. With great racing throughout the week, Kurt had won the Aggregate two days prior. Also on July 13, Kurt and Versatile Energy worked together to raise over $20,000 for the Humboldt Broncos. One night of the tarp sponsorship was sold to Thru Tubing Solutions raising the bulk, with additional funds raised by selling jerseys. Kurt fondly remembers his days playing Junior A Hockey in North Battleford and having played against Humboldt, so he was thrilled to have everyone come on board to support the cause. According to an interview with Robb Kerr on sportsnet.ca, Kurt’s next goal would include another world title, and Kurt said, “The Stampede is good for all ages. It’s nice to break the ten days up by spending it with family.” Kurt’s daughters also participated at the Stampede this year. Hayze tried her hand at mutton busting riding, not just one, but four sheep. Harlee was joined by cousins Sienna and August for the wild pony race, and they even won the round!
