New MLA – Garth Rowswell

UCP candidate Garth Rowswell was announced the new MLA in the Vermilion-Lloydminster-Wainwright Constituency on April 16. “I’m so happy; it’s been a long process, and it is a real honour,” said newly elected MLA Garth Rowswell who began working towards this goal in February of 2017. With an elector count of 28,699 there were 21,513 votes in the constituency, and Rowswell was very thankful to have received 16,773 of those votes according to Elections Alberta’s unofficial update. At different points throughout the evening, guests congratulated him on having the highest margin of victory in the province. “My competitors were really good guys. It was a really respectful campaign,” said Rowswell. Beyond balancing the budget, working towards pipelines, and removing the carbon tax, Rowswell met with concerned citizens to learn what local problems can be solved. “Even with a larger constituency with the new boundaries, I am right in the middle of it, and have loved getting to know many of the constituents over the past couple of years,” said Rowswell. He went on to thank member volunteers who assisted in his campaign process in Irma, Wainwright, Edgerton, Chauvin, Paradise Valley, Dewberry, Clandonald, Kitscoty, Marwayne, Steamstown, Tulliby Lake, and Vermilion. Overall, people that had stopped by to watch the results come in were thrilled to have the opportunity to congratulate him and in conclusion he said, “It feels great; this was the result I wanted. We got a majority government; we get to do something now!”
