Burnt Rock Adventure Co. Opening Soon

The original 100 year old floors has come to life in the new Burnt Rock Adventure Co.

The owners of Burnt Rock Adventure Co. have been transforming the old Vermilion Standard building into their new outdoor adventure store and are hoping to open their doors in the week leading up to May long weekend.

Burnt Rock Adventure Co. will provide outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to purchase top of line products such as pedal and electric hybrid bikes from Norco and HARO Bikes, North scooters and accessories, Longboards and skateboards from the GLOBE brand, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards from top manufactures such as Hellman Canoe & Kayak, Old Town Canoes Kayaks, Level Six and KAHUNA Paddleboards, and Aquaglide. Paddles from Bending Branches and water vests from SALUS will also be available.

Camping fans were not forgotten as the store will also carry camping products such as tents from MSR and inflatables by THERMA-REST.

The store will also boast outdoor active wear apparel from Columbia, Sport Chief and Chlorophylle and Salomon. The owners know that quality footwear is a must, and will be carrying men’s footwear from brands such as Blundstone, Columbia, MERRELL, GLOBE, KEEN, REEF, Salomon, Sanuk, Saucony, and Timberland.

The store will have two levels and each level will house different items for outdoor adventures.

“The upper level will have all of the hard goods, such as bikes, canoes, kayaks and the accessories for them. The main level will showcase our men’s shoes as well as men’s and ladies active wear apparel, the camping products and accessories. The back area will be our bike service section,” stated owners Toland Cochrane and Aaron Hayman.

Throughout the renovations the owners have left some of the buildings historic finishes, such as the concrete slabs in the floor where the print presses used to stand, the original wood walls, ceilings and flooring while incorporating decor touches from local entities in the town of Vermilion.

“The Black Poplar wood displays were milled by Lloyd’s Limbs Service in town. The decorative handrail to the upstairs came from the Rowing Club. They donated a couple of their old oars and we joined them together to make the hand railing,” commented Cochrane.

Cochrane also went on to say that the store will not be carrying sports equipment such as hockey equipment etc. as it is meant to provide customers the opportunity to be able to purchase outdoor items so they can enjoy the outside adventures that are available in the Vermilion area as well as the surrounding areas. Burnt Rock Adventure Co. is located at 4917 50 Ave, mainstreet Vermilion. You can also follow them on Facebook at @burntrockadventureco or check out their website at www.burntrockadventureco.com.
