Members of the East/West Chapter of the Alberta Carriage Driving Association participated in their annual Fun Drive Weekend on June 11 and 12 at the Vermilion Fair Grounds. Under beautiful blue skies for most of the weekend, drivers were given the chance to learn about combined driving events, including Dressage, timed courses, and Derby maneuvering. On Sunday, there were eight classes, consisting of Driving Reinsmanship, Driving Working Class, and a junior class. The eleven entries were then treated to a few games with, including a ball toss.
The Triple Drive, which is the East/Wests big event for the summer is in August from the 26-28, and this past weekend was meant to help club members brush up and learn the routine of events, as well as the etiquette and what judges are looking for as preparation for the numerous events throughout the province. Prizes were awarded, and chapter secretary Bonnie Brown hoped that everyone had fun and gained experience at the event.
