VIBE, Alberta Health Services, and the Vermilion Wellness Coalition hosted the first of four Family Fundays in the gyms at JR Robson High School on Sunday, January 21.

The event offered disc golf, bowling, giant checkers, giant Snakes and Ladders, ring toss, cornhole, inflatables, and other games for children and their caregivers to play with. The inflatables were courtesy of the Early Childhood Coalition, while many of the games were part of the block party kit that can be borrowed from the Town of Vermilion by town residents. Snacks were provided for children to eat on their way home.

VIBE Program Manager Pat Calyniuk said the series was planned “so that families have some fun on the cold winter days.”

The Family Fundays will run again on January 28 and February 4 and 11 from 1–3 p.m. in the JR Robson gyms. “Just come out and have fun,” encourages Calyniuk.

The Vermilion Wellness Coalition also invites families of preschoolers to free play time at the indoor playground at the Vermilion Regional Centre on Wednesday mornings from 10–11:30 a.m. between now and the end of April.
