On Thursday September 3, Vermilion’s Chamber organized a Grand Reopening of Vermilion Businesses, which included a BBQ supper and goodie bags containing swag from participating businesses.
The barbecue offerings were burgers barbecued by the County of Vermilion River Natural Gas Utility Department, who were able to hook up the barbeque to their natural gas truck. As well, homemade Saskatoon pie was served.
“The goal of the event was just to infuse some optimism and joy into the community as well as promote the amazing local businesses that we have here in Vermilion and area,” commented Chamber member Leanne Martin.
On display were ribbons for businesses to add their ribbon from the Chamber’s Ribbon Tying Event to add to the Chamber’s “Ribbon Tree”. The ribbons were also to be used by families who wanted to show their support and sense of community in Vermilion, which are still available at the Town of Vermilion office.
The Bargain Shop’s mascot, “Big Red”, also attended the Barbeque for family photo ops.
“The turnout was a bit small but we weren’t really sure what to expect with this being the first community event to take place in quite some time. We are grateful for those who did come out,” Martin said.
