Town Council Update



Did you know that Vermilion’s Town Council meets bi-weekly and that you can watch meetings on the Town’s Youtube Channel?

This week’s meeting included the Quarterly Community Policing Report from our RCMP Detachment, presented by Sgt. Dunsmore. This was Sgt. Dunsmore’s first report as the Detachment’s Commander. The detachment at present has seven staffed police officer positions with two vacancies, and three support positions with one vacancy. Sgt. Dunsmore also discussed the priority areas of Crime Reduction, Enhanced Public Confidence and Engagement, and Enhanced Road Safety.

The Council voted to accept and authorize a proposal for the Town to begin negotiating with Digital Infrastructure Group for building a Broadband Network Connection for the Town.

The Parks, Recreation and Culture Committee received approval from Council to provide a $500 grant to the Vermilion/Clandonald 4-H Beef Interclub.

Council also approved the decision to not change the Ice User Rental Rates for the 2021/2022 season, effective September 1, 2021.

The next Town Council meeting will be held on Tuesday April 20, 2021 at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to watch meetings through the Town’s Youtube Channel which is best accessed through the Town of Vermilion’s website.
