Local Vermilionite Doug Charlesworth once spent much of his time working in camps as a Journeyman Red Seal Electrician. After working in this field for a while he wanted to spend more time at home with his family so Charlesworth decided to switch careers, and obtained his real estate agents license in 2017.
“I have always been interested in the housing market and I have always been a very people-orientated person. I love working with people and I love helping my clients find the perfect house for them, which also crosses over to include helping my sellers find the perfect buyers for their home,” commented Charlesworth.
Charlesworth who is married with two small children understands the importance of finding the right home that fits each person’s/families needs whether it is their starter home or upgrading to their family home.
“Every person or family a Realtor/Broker deals with has vastly differing needs. Sometimes it is a single person or couple looking for their first starter home, sometimes it is a young family who is on a limited budget, but wants to get into a home to start building on their investments, sometimes it’s a family who is looking to upgrade into a bigger home as their family grows, and sometimes it is a couple in their retirement years who are looking to downsize. The lists of needs are endless and I really enjoy working with each client no matter what their needs are at the time. I love the challenge that it is sometimes to find that perfect place for them to call home.” commented Charlesworth.
On the selling side, Charlesworth commented that he understands that each seller has certain requirements. He also recognizes that sometimes sellers have emotional attachments to the home they are listing for sale, and states that he always takes the uniqueness of each seller seriously when speaking with them.
“When a person decides to sell their home for whatever reason, it can be a very stressful situation for them. Some clients have lived in their house their whole life; therefore, it is a very emotional time for them. I do my best to be empathetic to their feelings. Selling your house is a very big decision and the reasons for selling can also be vastly different, therefore I always have to be understanding and do my best to accommodate their needs.” explained Charlesworth.
In July Charlesworth took a leap of faith when he decided to branch out on his own and opened his real estate brokerage known as Vermilion Realty which is located at 4932 50th Avenue in Vermilion (formerly the Pet Boutique and Spa building).
Over the past five years, Charlesworth has obtained the required 2 years as a real estate agent to become a broker and he has worked diligently to receive the training and courses needed to acquire his broker’s license.
“I have worked very hard to get where I am today. I have completed and obtained all my professional licenses since beginning my career in 2017, including my license to operate as a Real Estate Brokerage. I am licensed in residential, commercial and land therefore I can represent all clients for their buying and selling needs,” commented Charlesworth.
He went on to say that working in the real estate industry gives him a sense of pride knowing that he has accomplished so much in such a short period of time, and he bashfully admitted that he has been a leading seller in the area.
“I am so thankful for the support of my past and current clients, I couldn’t have done this without the support and trust I have received and I want to express a very humble thank you. I look forward to meeting new clients as I continue to grow in the community,” said Charlesworth.
