On June 8 the Vermilion Valley Lodge hosted an outdoor hotdog/hamburger BBQ with baked beans, macaroni, and potato salads to celebrate the seniors who reside at the facility for Seniors Week. Due to COVID family and friends were unable to attend, but the residents enjoyed their special meal and music performed by Kevin and Barb Nelson of Marwayne.
The BBQ itself was donated by Pentacon, tents, tables and chairs were supplied by Piece of Cake wedding/event planning and rentals, and the food was donated by Cornerstone Co-op.
After each resident filled in their lunch order sheets, The BBQ lunch was served individually by members of the staff as well as Board Vice Chairman Rob Snow and Mayor Greg Throndson, who is also a Board Member.
Vermilion Valley Lodge CAO Carrie Kohlruss was excited to have the opportunity to provide lunch to the senior residents to celebrate the important week.
“We are really honoured that we get to serve and take care of these individuals every day. Our residents have been through so much during this pandemic and they deserve to be celebrated. This is just a small token for us to be able to say thank you for all they give us and to show our appreciation for everything they have and continue to do for our community, “stated Kohlruss.
